Since 2014, the European Project- BabyLux- has had the goal of reducing the risk of brain lesions in extremely preterm babies and eventually decreasing the number of children with disabilities through the creation of a new biomedical device based on non-invasive advanced biophotonic technologies that allow clinicians to monitor oxygenation levels and cerebral blood flow. Tested prototypes were installed in the neonatology intensive care units in Copenhagen and Milan and used by clinical doctors for six months.
