These are the structures of the shell proteins that assemble to form a protein-based organelle for metabolizing ethanolamine in E. coli and some other enteric bacteria. The study, by Dr. S. Tanaka of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, Calif.,, and colleagues, was titled, "Structure and Mechanisms of a Protein-Based Organelle in Escherichia coli."
