Moths increasingly escape bat attack as hindwing length increases. Here, a big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus) aims its attack at the experimentally elongated hindwings of a polyphemus moth (Antheraea Polyphemus) and misses its target. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 04 July 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.J. Rubin at Boise State University in Boise, ID, and colleagues was titled, "The evolution of anti-bat sensory illusions in moths."
