Broadband dichroic beamsplitters in action. They divide the broadband white beam (coming from the right) into three bands, namely into a ultraviolet (blue), visible (yellow) and near infrared (magenta) part of the spectrum. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Sept. 8, 2011, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. A. Wirth of Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik in Garching, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "Synthesized Light Transients."
