Computer Simulation Of Water Flow Around A 3-D Model Of Protocinctus Mansillaensis (IMAGE)
Caption
Scientists, led by Dr Imran Rahman at the University of Bristol, UK, have used computer simulations to reconstruct feeding in Protocinctus mansillaensis, the common ancestor shared between humans and starfish, which lived over half a billion years ago. The researchers tested a 510-million-year-old fossil using computational fluid dynamics, an engineering tool.
