A peptide isolated from the commensal bacteria Staphylococcus hominis inhibited the activity of Staphylococcus aureus (SA) and prevented skin damage in mice. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the May 1, 2019, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by M.R. Williams at University of California, San Diego in San Diego, CA; and colleagues was titled, "Quorum sensing between bacterial species on the skin protects against epidermal injury in atopic dermatitis."
