The shape of regular polyhedra is sufficient to self-assemble a broad range of ordered structures closely resembling the crystals found with atoms and molecules. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the July 27, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Pablo Damasceno at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and colleagues was titled, “Predictive Self-Assembly of Polyhedra into Complex Structures.”
