3-D Invisibility Cloak Hides Gold 'Bump' (IMAGE)
Caption
This is a blueprint of the nanostructure containing the bump in the gold carpet and tailored invisibility cloaking structure underneath. Note that the local volume filling fraction of the polymer woodpile locally varies. The entire structure has been fabricated by direct laser writing (see Fig. 2 of the paper) and has been characterized using an optical microscope (see Figs. 3 and 4 of the paper). This image relates to an article that appeared in the March 18, 2010, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. T. Ergin of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany and colleagues, was titled, "Three-Dimensional Invisibility Cloak at Optical Wavelengths."
