AC1 is stably expressed in HEK293 cells. The model shows that AC1 acts downstream from the glutamate NMDA receptors (NMDR) and is activated in a calcium-dependent manner. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Jan. 12, 2011, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. H. Wang of the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, and colleagues, was titled, "Identification of an Adenylyl Cyclase Inhibitor for Treating Neuropathic and Inflammatory Pain."
