a) Some Late Jurassic ctenochasmatids had elongated snouts with many slender teeth, interpreted as adaptations for filter feeding. b) The modern Chilean flamingo, which is a filter feeder, can produce droppings full of foraminifera when feeding in coastal wetlands.
