Tango: Commuter Car of the Future (IMAGE) DOE/Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Caption Rick Woodbury, co-inventor of the battery-powered commuter car known as the Tango, steps out of the 39-inch-wide vehicle. Woodbury's Spokane company, Commuter Car Corporation, received free technology assistance from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) when PNNL's Patrick Balducci assessed the Tango's impact on freeway capacity in Seattle-area traffic. Woodbury brought the Tango to the Tri-Cities for a visit in 2003 to increase the car's visibility in southeastern Washington State. Credit Courtesy of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
