Stem cells, though derived from a female T. osimensis, differentiated into male germ cells in the testes of a male chimeric mouse. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 12 May 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by A. Honda at University of Miyazaki in Miyazaki, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Flexible adaptation of male germ cells from female iPSCs of endangered Tokudaia osimensis."
