Phylogenetic tree relating the Denisova 2 mitochondrial DNA with other Denisovan mitochondrial DNA sequences. The mitochondrial DNA from Sima de los Huesos was used as an outgroup. The schematic representations of the specimens are drawn to scale, shown in the lower right corner. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the July 7, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by V. Slon at Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "A fourth Denisovan individual."
