Strolling Salamander (VIDEO)
Caption
Mole salamanders that travel to new breeding sites traverse an average of six miles of territory that is often rugged and inhospitable, new research from The Ohio State University has found. The researchers used mini treadmills to gauge the animals' endurance and cross-referenced the data with genetic tests. The discovery could be important for future conservation efforts.
