Optically pPopelled Microparticle (VIDEO)
Caption
A whispering gallery mode microparticle is propelled along a region of a hollow-core fiber embedded in a metallic v-groove used to heat the fiber. Initially only one trapping laser beam is launched into the fiber from the left. After about 37 seconds a second trapping laser beam is launched from the right to bring the particle to a halt and trap it at the center of the v-groove. The video is sped up by a factor of 3.75.
