The University of Central Florida's Jessica Chambers and Kareem Ahmed set up the shock tube they used to uncover the mechanisms that could have caused the Big Bang. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 1 Nov. issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by A.Y. Poludnenko at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, and colleagues was titled, "A unified mechanism for unconfined deflagration-to-detonation transition in terrestrial chemical systems and type Ia supernovae."
