Minipigs with a TMJ defect that were treated with the tissue-engineered implant exhibited more healing and correction of the defect compared to untreated animals. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the June 20, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by N. Vapniarsky at University of California, Davis in Davis, Calif.; and colleagues was titled, " Tissue engineering toward temporomandibular joint disc regeneration."
