An Unexpected Link (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers found abnormal calcium deposits, a feature of certain autoinflammatory diseases, in the brains of all six patients (P1 to P6) lacking the immune protein ISG15. The deposits appear as white spots in scans from two patients. These do not appear in the scan from the healthy mother of the P4, P5 and P6 (ISG151-/+).
