A blue whale is diving in Southern California. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 2 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by E.L. Hazen at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Monterey, CA, and colleagues was titled, "Blue whales (Balaenoptera musculus) optimize foraging efficiency by balancing oxygen use and energy gain as a function of prey density."
