New Map Tracks Protein Expression in Human Tissues (6 of 8) (IMAGE)
Caption
The protein ATP5A1 (ATP synthase, H+ transporting, mitochondrial F1 complex, alpha subunit 1, cardiac muscle) is visualized using confocal microscopy and immunofluorescent reporters in a human cell line (U-2 OS). ATP5A1 is localized to the mitochondria (green). The cytoskeleton and microtubules are shown in red and the nucleus in blue. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 23, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by M. Uhlén at KTH--Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and colleagues was titled, "Tissue-based map of the human proteome."
