Researchers Becky Deegan and Kenneth Bayles of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and David Berkowitz of the University of Nebraska chemistry department are jumpstarting the development of drug therapies to protect military service members from the effects of radiation exposure. The same therapies could be used to protect cancer patients receiving radiation treatments.
