Protecting Emergency Personnel: Platform Shows Potential of AI in Hazardous Environments

Whether it's at rescue and firefighting operations or deep-sea inspections, mobile robots supported by artificial intelligence (AI) can assist in carrying out activities in hazardous environments. The potential and the benefits of AI in this field are illustrated in a current report by the Plattform Lernende Systeme, Germany (Platform for AI). The authors, KIT scientists among them, also identify challenges and the conditions needed for the reliable and economic use of AI in life-hostile environments.
