NASA Satellite Sees Fires in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia

NASA's Aqua satellite saw widespread bushfires occurring in western Africa in mid-March, 2012. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer instrument that flies onboard NASA's Aqua satellite captured this image of bushfires and smoke occurring throughout Sierra Leone, in southern Guinea and northern Liberia on March 14, 2012 at 14:35 UTC (10:35 am EDT). The fires are designated in red and smoke from the fires appears as a light brown color, while clouds appear in white.
