Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) stained tibiae in germ-free (GF) and segmented filamentous bacteria (SFB)-monoassociated mice. Mice colonized with SFB displayed an increase in osteoclasts (stained in red), which resorb bone.
