This shows the differential conductance of the single-electron-transistor spin ratchet. The charge conductance is symmetric along zero bias, however, spin up electrons dominate the transport at positive bias, whereas spin down electrons dominate at negative bias. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Dec. 17, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Marius V. Costache at Centre d'Investigació en Nanociència i Nanotecnologia in Barcelona, Spain, and colleagues was titled, "Experimental Spin Ratchet."
