HIV Antibody Stems Infection in Clinical Trial (IMAGE)

An early clinical trial shows that passive immunization with an HIV-1 neutralizing monoclonal antibody can help lower the amount of virus in the blood in HIV-1 infected subjects. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Dec. 23, 2015 issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by R.M. Lynch at National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, and colleagues was titled, "Virologic effects of broadly neutralizing antibody VRC01 administration during chronic HIV-1 infection."
