Graphene Takes the Heat (IMAGE)
Caption
This scanning microscope image shows the central region of the measurement device which was fabricated to measure the thermal conductivity of supported grapheme. False colors are applied to the device in order to visualize the temperature gradient built in the device due to Joule heating. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 9, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. J.H. Seol of University of Texas at Austin in Austin, was titled, "Two-Dimensional Phonon Transport in Supported Graphene."
