A new study by Dressel et al. shows the software COMPAS is no more accurate or fair than predictions made by people with little or no criminal justice expertise. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 17, 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J. Dressel at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, and colleagues was titled, "The accuracy, fairness, and limits of predicting recidivism."
