A section of brain from an individual who had Alzheimer's Disease during their lifetime shows a blood vessel completely surrounded by amyloid beta (green), a condition known as cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 18, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by J. Keaney at Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland, and colleagues was titled, 'Autoregulated paracellular clearance of amyloid-ß across the blood-brain barrier.'
