Macrophages undergo pyroptosis when cytoplasmic LPS triggers caspase-11 activation. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the 13 Sept., 2013, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Nobuhiko Kayagaki at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, N.C., and colleagues was titled, "Cytoplasmic LPS Activates Caspase-11: Implications in TLR4-Independent Endotoxic Shock."
