Research has shown the benefits of careful and thoughtful management of antibiotics in the hospital -- so-called antibiotic stewardship -- include reduced antibiotic use and decreased risk of the development of resistance to these miracle medications. But a new study shows antibiotic stewardship also actually benefits children's health. When their doctors follow the recommendations made by antibiotic stewardship programs, the study found, children get out of the hospital sooner and are less likely to be readmitted.
