Researchers performed PCR amplification on extracted coral DNA mixed with primers for four genes related to sound emission or reception. If a gene is present, it will be amplified by PCR and can be detected by agarose gel electrophoresis as DNA bands of a specific size. The DNA bands showed probable presence of TRPV and FOLH-1 genes in coral DNA.
