Neural Networks Can Solve Physics Problems Without Knowing Physics (3 of 3) (IMAGE)
Caption
Artificial intelligence is used to inverse design nanoparticles to emit desired spectra and have desired properties. Here, the thickness of subsequent layers of a nanoparticle's material is fed into a neural network, and used to predict the spectrum. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 01 June 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J. Peurifoy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, and colleagues was titled, "Nanophotonic particle simulation and inverse design using artificial neural networks."
