Photographs of the Denisova 2 lower second molar in (A) occlusal, (B) mesial, (C) buccal, (D) lingual, (E) distal, and (F) apical views. Scientists estimate the molar found in the Denisova Cave in Siberia is older than previously studied Denisovan fossils. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the July 7, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by V. Slon at Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "A fourth Denisovan individual."
