A sudden stop at even a low speed -- under 10 mph -- can fling a driver or passenger painfully forward. Police officers used the "seatbelt convincer" to provide that experience for high school students during a Virginia Tech Transportation Institute-sponsored event in 2010. The lesson: Fasten your seat belt.
