On Aug. 5 at 2:20 a.m. EDT (0620 UTC), the MODIS instrument that flies aboard NASA's Terra satellite showed a couple of small area of strong storms remaining (yellow) in the remnants of Tropical Storm Gil. Cloud top temperatures in those areas were as cold as minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 45.5 Celsius).
