Light and Learning in Drosophila Dendrites (2 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
Light induced structural and functional plasticity in Drosophila larval visual system: Increased light exposure reduces total dendrite length (top) and the physiological responses to light stimuli (bottom) in ventral lateral neurons, a group of central neurons postsynaptic to larval photoreceptors. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Sept. 9, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Q. Yuan of University of California, San Francisco, and colleagues was titled, "Light-Induced Structural and Functional Plasticity in Drosophila Larval Visual System."
