Bat attack is increasingly directed towards the posterior end of moths as hindwing length increases. Here, a big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus) targets its attack at the tail ends of an African moon moth (Argema mimosa), despite its head-on approach. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 04 July 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.J. Rubin at Boise State University in Boise, ID, and colleagues was titled, "The evolution of anti-bat sensory illusions in moths."
