<i>Corallium rubrum</i>

Corallium rubrum, found in the Mediterranean Sea, has been heavily traded for centuries. Commercial fishing has significantly depleted populations to the extent that colony densities have been reduced, and the size and age structure has shifted to small, immature colonies, thereby significantly lowering reproductive output.
