Mice without the natriuretic peptide receptor (right) were protected from obesity when fed a high-fat diet. . This material relates to a paper that appeared in the July 26, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by W. Wu at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in Orlando, Fla., and colleagues was titled, " Enhancing natriuretic peptide signaling in adipose tissue, but not muscle, protects against diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance."
