The selection for coat color in horses suggests domestication started in the Eurasian steppe region about 5000 years ago. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 24, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Ludwig at Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, Germany, and colleagues, was titled, "Coat Color Variation at the Beginning of Horse Domestication."
