Canadian Coast Guard ship Louis S. St. Laurent on oceanographic survey in the Canada Basin of the Arctic Ocean in August 2007 finds that the smallest algae thrive as climate changes. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Oct. 23, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. W. K. W. Li at Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada and colleagues, was titled, "Smallest Algae Thrive as the Arctic Ocean Freshens."
