An Alternative, More Stable Gene Drive (1 of 4) (IMAGE)
Caption
The emergence of drive-resistant alleles is a major challenge to using CRISPR gene drives to genetically alter populations. An alternative design that selects against resistant alleles could greatly improve drives' evolutionary stability. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 05 April 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by C. Noble at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues was titled, 'Evolutionary dynamics of CRISPR gene drives.'
