These are newborn cloned mice. Three to five cloned pups are born from a mother by the new technique, while less than one on average is born by conventional technique. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Sept. 16, 2010, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Kimiko Inoue of RIKEN and University of Tsukuba in Tsukuba, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Impeding Xist Expression from the Active X Chromosome Improves Mouse Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer."
