A Chromosome Anomaly May Cause Malaria-Transmitting Mosquito to Prefer Feeding on Cattle

Villagers and cattle along the road outside the town of Pimperena in southern Mali. Both people and cattle are bitten by the malaria mosquito, Anopheles arabiensis. Here we report that mosquito preference for human versus animal biting has a genetic basis.
