Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., is chancellor of The University of Texas System and served as president of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 2000 to 2009. On Sept. 18, 2014, he will be recognized as the winner of the 2014 BioMed SA Julio Palmaz Award for Innovation in Healthcare and the Biosciences.
