Storing Data in Tiny Antiferromagnets (4 of 8) (IMAGE)
Caption
Miniaturized information storage in atomic-scale antiferromagnets. The binary representation of ‘S’ (01010011) was stored in the Néel states of eight iron atom arrays. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 13, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Sebastian Loth at IBM Research Division, Almaden Research Center in San Jose, Calif., and colleagues, was titled, “Bistability in Atomic-Scale Antiferromagnets.”
