Mixing up Instant Membrane Sacs (IMAGE)

Sac formed by self-assembly of small and large molecules that can be used to instantly encapsulate cells. Sacs range in size from 1mm to 10mm. This image relates to article that appeared in the March 28, 2008 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Ramille Capito of Northwestern University, Chicago, IL and colleagues, was titled "Self-Assembly of Large and Small Molecules into Hierarchically Ordered Sacs and Membranes."
