Researchers use a hydraulically assisted Livingstone corer to collect sediment core samples from the bottom of Lake Roadside, Sibley Peninsula, ON, Canada. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 29, 2010, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. S.-Y. Yu at University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn., and colleagues, was titled, "Freshwater Outburst from Lake Superior as a Trigger for the Cold Event 9,300 Years Ago."
