A new, highly detailed geological map of the Island of Syros (Aegean Sea, Greece) is now available from the Geological Society of America. This area has been a key area for the study of high-pressure rocks throughout the past decades. Excellently preserved blueschist- to eclogite-facies lithologies offer a unique opportunity to study processes of burial and exhumation in a young orogen. Authors Mark Keiter, Chris Ballhaus, and Frank Tomaschek review the current state of research concerning this interesting island.
